"Espectacle del Monstant" was described as being a history-making wine when it won one of the prestigious 2008 Sibaritas Awards this June. It's reputation which started in 2004 thanks to the 99 points given to it by the well-known wine critic Robert Parker in the Wine Advocate Magazine continues to grow. This wine originates from century year old "Garnacha" vines in the Monstant region and is fruit of careful labour of the vineyard as well as an unusual and labour intensive vinification process which limits production to some 5,000 bottles. According to Mr Barbier himself, the secret to Espectacle lies in the 100-year old vineyards whose vines have adapted perfectly to the terrior and terraces on which they are situated and the fact that they have survived hardships for over 100 years. Now in the hands of the Espectacle team, they can express the elegance and complexity of its "terrior".
