The galaxy of small estates that makes up the Accademia dei Racemi, run by Gregory Perrucci, continues to turn out highly respectable wines. In just a few years the Accademia has become the focal point for the recovery of the region's indigenous varieties, both the better known ones, like primitivo, and those that are little known or heading for extinction.
