“La Strada” is an Italian word for “the way”. It is a symbolic name for the winery and its wines. The notion behind La Strada is “to not stand still” but “to move forward”. La Strada expresses the ongoing, ever evolving enrichment gained through meeting Fromm Winery followers, interaction within our wine team, between our friends from around the world and with our precious environment.
In the early 1990’s, after a life changing trip to New Zealand, Swiss winemaker George Fromm started the Fromm Winery – La Strada venture in Marlborough complementing his Swiss winery with this antipodean one.
Back then, New Zealand was already well known for its white wines. Fromm was amongst the first to focus on red wine production, thinking "where good Chardonnay grapes can be grown, Pinot Noir will also do well!"
Marlborough Pinot Noir can keep up with the best Pinot wines of the world. A fact that Fromm Winery has historically proven.
